Personal History

This is blog number 5, and we have to do a personal history about us and our ancestors. Well, I was born here in America and my parents were born in Mexico. They wanted to come here because over here in America, there was freeedom and, the life over here seemed pretty easy and you could get money fast so, they decide to come here in America. They came over here when they were about around twenty years old both of them.

First, I'll start with my grandparents on my mother's side. They are currently in Mexico enjoying the beach and soaking up the nice sun. Their nationality is Mexican. They speak Spanish and are currently trying to learn English and are planning to get a visa to come and visit like they used to a long time ago when I was at least six years old. They speak Spanish and that's it I guess.

My grandmother on my fathers side was with me since I was born until I was like eight or nine years old. I was sad at first because she was like a second mother to me because my real mom was always working until at least six or seven o'clock in the night. So, as I was saying, I was sad at first, but as I got older, I learned how to call her from my house to hers over there in Mexico, and now I talk to her like every three to four weeks. My grandmother speaks Spanish, and understands English a little but, can't speak it well.

Our religion has been being a Catholic for as long as I know of. Most of my family is catholic. My grandparents are catholic also and you guessed it, my great grandparents and other ancestors also are catholic. So, from generation to generation, me and my ancestors have been catholic for as long as I know. My religion, from what I think, is alright. I mean, I don't mean to offend people that are catholic and all, but sometimes we just have too much fun and have so much to so for being a complete catholic.

For instance, if your catholic, you HAVE TO get baptised, and HAVE TO do your communion and confirmation and all that other stuff. I mean, what's the point? You're going to end up where your going, depending on your actions and all you know so sometimes we, catholics just over do the parties and all of the money goes wasted.

One thing I do like about being Mexican is that we have some holidays that I like to celebrate. For instance, we celebrate May 5. I like this holiday because we have to first out of all things have to prepare some kind of Mexican dish. Then, after that, we have a party or some of us Mexicans go to the parade and watch the Mexican heritage come to the New York streets like gold spilling down the streets of New York.

My people came to America since like close to about two decades ago .My father, mother, and most of my uncles came to America around that time. They came to America because they had high hopes for this country. They believed in freedom, and freedom was often found here, so they thought why not come here? So they came. But being here was harder than they thought. They had to learn the English language, had to work for a living and, also had to raise a huge family. They also came here to have a better life for us, children, to work hard in school, get a good education, and have a better life in here then they did back in their own country.

The economy of my country and the U.S.A. is that in the U.S.A. they are first place and Mexico is thirteenth place. They are not so bad as I thought. They have a pretty good amount of money from all over the world. Mexico's economy is about 1,149,000,000,000 dollars and The United States economy is 13,130,000,000,000 dollars so we have about half the money as Canada.

I ended up here in New York,in Woodside,by moving from place to place. My parents were first were in California and slowly, they started moving all over the country to get to here,New York. When I was born, they lived in a little apartment, but moved to a basement so they could have children and raise a family in a house. Then, from there we moved to northern boulevard, and 74 through 79th street and went to live in a house.

We had the most beautiful house. It was two stories high and it had two bathrooms, around like three or four rooms and had a huge living room, where we had a huge t.v. and a big table where we all sat and ate like a real family should. Then, we moved here in Woodside, where I live and I've been living around here for like three years now. My parents are thinking of moving again but I'm happy here living where I am.

Well, we speak Spanish because we are Latinos and are proud of that! Well, it all started with Spain and the war between Mexico and Spain. They tried to take over the whole South America. So,I did a little research and I found out some good information. Oh, by the way, most of Mexico is catholic because when Spain tried to take over, their religion and all of the things they did were that it had to be their way and their religion and just basically everything had to be their own way and no one else's.

The whole war started with Spain and it's actions. An early explorer named Fernando Cortes, came to Mexico in search for gold. Mexico was under Spanish rule for around three centuries. Then, they got into a fight that got bigger and bigger. Spain got into Mexico and started killing people for land and power. At first, Mexico was scared but they got their act together and they decided to attack back. In the end, Mexico got it's independence on May 5 in the year of1994 and up until now, they are happy that they won and are living a good life and not being slaves under Spanish rulers.

I guess that is how we Spanish people or in my case, us Mexican people got to speak the way we do. If we didn't win the war, Mexico will still be under control of Spain, and that would be a bad thing. We speak Spanish because if we didn't win, we would be talking Aztec right now and us Mexicans still would be under Spanish rule, and that wouldn't be a good thing for all for us Mexicans.

That is the end of my personal history report and I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! Thank you for reading it!!=]

Using Google

This is blog number four and in this blog we have to explain how to narrow down our research to at least a few thousand sites. The only way we can do this is bt either going on google or wikispaces but they usually have acurate information so we are going to use google and from there narrow your research down to a few hunded or less sites.

Well, my topic is about pollution. This is a bad thing for Earth because Earth, in general is dying. Earth has many problems with The Greenhouse Effect. This is a bad thing for the world because if Earth dies then,.. we die and I pretty much think that nobody that I know wants to die for no reason, right? Earth has many problems but I am goig to specifacly research the greenhouse effect. There are the many steps you can use to narrow down your search. The steps I am going to use are written down below. These steps are there so you can know what to do when you want to narrow down your search more and have really good acurate information. Here are the steps I used to solve my problem.

First, you go to google.com and then there is a bar under the icon where it says to write what you want to know or want to find out. So, you type in pollution and earth. When you click goole search, all of a sudden you have about 86,100,000 site come out that you can go to! But, you don't want 86,100,000 sites, you want around a couple thousand sites that are useful and has good informatiion that you can use so you don't get a bad research. Then, from there you go to advanced search and go to exact phrase and type in greenhouse effect. From there, you get around 30,900,000 sites. The most I could've narrowed down my search is 30,900,000 sites because if you try to narrow it down more, it says that there's no more sites or whatever you wrote does not exist. That is how you narrow down your search!

My second topic is about the causes of world war 2. You go to google.com and type in causes of world war 2. You get about 109,000,000 sites. You narrow it down by going on advanced search on with one of the words and type in causes. You get about 116,000,000 sites. You can go on advaced search and type in the "without the words" and put the great depression and it narrows down your search to about 14,600,000 sites.

This is how I searched on google, got accurate information, and narrowed down my search effectively. This is like a job well done if you are giving the teacher a report on how to narrow down your search step by step to get a job well done. Thank you for reading this post and have a good day!!=]=]=]=]

SEARCHING THE WEB: Topic # 1, & # 2

This is blog number three and we have to do two historical topics and look for a good website about the information, and find a bad site about the topic you are doing.

My first topic is about the problems America is dealing immigration. This is a good site about Immigration. I think this site is good because it has accurate information and has other links that you can go to.

Then, there's a bad link that has inacurate information about immigration. This is a bad site about Immigration. This site is bad because it doesn't say the correct information and it doesn't explain the information in the correct order of events.

My second topic is about The Holocaust. There is a good site about The Holocaust. This is a good site because it has other links and it has the right information, so if you do a research you don't get bad information and it has alot of other links you can go to for taking out information.

Then, there is a bad site about The Holocaust. This site is bad because everything is crowded in and there's also other information that isn't nessasery to see or work on. The other work that is in there doesn't make sense and it doesn't have the same topic as the link that you were supposed to be researching.

Well, I'm doing a peer review of Sherief E. His parents are from Eygpt but he was born here in America. He is fourteen years old and his birthday is on January 16. He likes to play basketball, handball and football. He has most of his cousins Egypt and and one in Manhattan. He hopes he joins the I.T.H.S. football team. He took Math A and he got a pretty good grade, a 94%! He hopes that ha gets Mr.Lin, a Math B teacher that he heard that's good for Math B.

He likes this school and he's slowly becoming less shy. I hope the best of the 2007-2008 school year to be a sucess for him! I also thionk he shoud've put more information about himself and like what he doesn't like and what type of person he is. Overall though, he did a pretty good job on his blog!=]

I Am

Well, what can I say about myself? Ah yes, I know now! Well, I just came to I.T.H.S. and I pretty much like this school. I'm Mexican and I just recently turned 14 years old. My birthday is on March 1, 1993. I live in Woodside, New York. I am very active and like to play really all kinds of sports. I major in basketball and handball. I got to admit though, I'm not that very good at either sport but hey, I'm learning, and as the saying goes 'Practice makes perfect'. I like having fun with all of my friends and like to hang out and chill. Oh, wait I almost forgot, I'm very social and funny!! Well, maybe not funny but love to laugh and have a good time!!

By the way, two of my friends go to this school so I'm very happy that they're here!! One of their names are Sandra. This girl is so much fun to hang out with and she's like my sister because she there for me whenever I need her the most. Yeah, I'm not saying that we're like all good you know because we've had some ups and downs but, over all she's a good friend you can rely on. Then there's Jerry. This boy is so funny!! Like really this boy is fun to be with and just to hang out. He's the type of boy that's kind of shy but overall, he's very mature and is cool to be with. I also met like four new girls in this school. There names are Michelle, who's in my class, Christina, Estefani who's also in my class, Diana, and all the girls in my class. They're all funny and cool to hang out with!

I just graduated from I.S.125 and so far, I guess that school really helped me become more independent person, and know the basics of high school. As in my personality, I''m a very nice and very active!!! My elementry school I used to go to was P.S. 152. All my teachers gave me the best advice and taught very good. I will always remember them and hopefully I become a very good student and have a good career as I exceed in life.

My friends are like the bomb!! They are so fun to hang out with. They are the reason why I live. Of course my family too but... Oh yes, my family!!! My family has seven people. Yes, we're one big family! I have three other sisters and one brother. Obviously, I have my mom and dad too. My sisters in general are funny, nice, bratty sometimes but over all, they're cool. I guess that's all I could say about my family because I guess there's nothing else I can say!

Well, back to me I guess!! Well, as I said before I'm active, like to move a lot, and sing. Yes, singing, dancing and being the really funny! I don't like to work. What I mean by "work" is that I don't like to do my house chores like cleaning my room and especially brooming it! I'm not saying it's messy or anything it's just that... oh, I don't know maybe I'm a little lazy???!! Well, my favorite kinds of music are rap, r&b, hip-hop, bachata, and really anything else in between!! What I hate the most, as in music types is country!! I'm not a fanatic on that kind of music! I'm very organized and clean.

Well, my favorite colors are black, white, red, gold, and silver!! Lots of colors right?? So... my favorite kind of fast food is pizza!! I don't really like hamburgers or anything really "meaty", but I love tol go to Mickey D's and I love ice-cream!!! My favorite ic e-cream flavor is vanilla bean with real oreos on top and hot chocolate fudge with sprinkles on top!! Sounds good doesn't it???( Well, maybe not for those that don't like ice-cream!!)

Well, I guess that's it for now!! Lucky you, right?? You probably thought I was going to go on and on and on and on an...JAJAJAJAJA =]
